All good summers come to an end...

This summer has been great for Benedict's Garden!! All the rain couldn't keep the customers away at the Sugarcreek Farmer's Market each week.  Flower sales were phenomenal, graham crackers sold out every week, and granola bars were a new hit!  Thank you to each and every person who supported us.

This week (Aug 7) will be my last market of the season.  I head back into the classroom next week, and I'm so excited for the change of pace!

We'll be back next summer, and we're in talks with a local business to sell our granola bars year-round!! I will definitely keep the blog up to date on that front, so be looking!

Summer 2015

Flowers are in full bloom around Benedict's Garden, so I wanted to share some pictures! The markets have been going well even in the rain, thanks to you, my customers! Remember to fill out the request form if you are looking for a certain type of granola bars.

Without further ado:
One of many butterflies that enjoys the flowers
My pink hydrangea - my favorite flower
The glads are stunning!  They brighten up this rainy summer.
Love the dark centers on the cosmos
The zinnia rows
A purple zinnia
A gorgeous red zinnia
Red on the outside, pale yellow inside - these calendula outdid themselves this year!

Looking forward to the 2015 season

Work is well under way for the 2015 season.  Some flower seeds were planted in the fall, others will be started indoors, under a hotbox, or sown once the frosts are over.  I plan to focus on sunflowers this year, along with zinnias, greenery, and the lovely cosmos.

Along with my very popular graham crackers (which I have been improving all winter), I have decided to expand into granola bars.  I have stopped buying bars from the store, which means for the past year I've perfected many favors of healthy, all natural fruit and nut bars.  Free of refined sugars, my bars are held together with a blend of dates and raisins.  Rolled oats add texture and fiber, nuts add protein and a delightful crunch, and the flavors are outstanding.  Just a few examples to get you salivating:  PB&J Picnic, Peanut Butter Crunch, Lemon Cookie Dough, and of course a few varieties involving dark chocolate.
My bars will be priced similarly to grocery store 'health' bars, but will be larger, and of course freshly made just for you with care!

I'm looking forward to seeing you at Sugarcreek Township's Farmer's Market starting at the end of May!
